Visiting Santa Barbara - A Peaceful City by the Pacific
When you're in Santa Barbara, you'll have the serene Pacific waters on one side and the Santa Ynez mountain range on the other. In between are plenty of attractions, and having your own car rental can make travel around town more convenient. Navigating traffic in the city is made easier since the downtown streets are laid out in a grid, with US 101 passing right through.
Feel the Sand on Your Toes
With the way Santa Barbara is situated, you'll want to drive south from most points to head to the beach, and it should take you less than 10 minutes to get there with your car rental. You have a few choices; Leadbetter, East and Butterfly beaches all have sandy shores and parking nearby. They're all located within a few miles of each other, and they offer great sunset views.
Head Toward the Hills
The Santa Barbara Botanic Garden is north of town in Rattlesnake Canyon. It has 5.5 miles of paths that can take you to a Japanese tea garden, a redwood grove and an area along Mission Creek.
If you prefer a bigger adventure, keep driving up the canyon a few miles. You'll come to the Inspiration Point Trailhead, and from here, you can hike up to various peaks and vista points.
The region is known for it's fresh, modern take on dining. There are several restaurants that have outside dining options, including the Santa Barbara Shellfish Company.
Are you interested in taking a trip to Santa Barbara? You can rent a car and drive there to breathe in the salty air, hear the sounds of seagulls and explore the hills that have brought so many to the area.
For most car rental companies around the world, the minimum age requirement is 25. Drivers aged between 21 and 24 might be subject to additional local fees and may not be allowed to book vehicles under the Premium, Specialty, SUV, Minivan, Van, Convertible, Utility and Luxury Vehicle categories. Additional drivers must be at least 25 years old.
Each driver must present a full, valid and original national driver's license held for minimum of 2 years. If your license is not in a language used in your destination country, an International Driver's Permit to accompany your national driver's license is highly recommended.
Each driver must present a valid and original photo ID or passport.
The renter must present a personal credit card, valid in the country of pick-up with enough funds to put a hold for a security deposit. Third-party credit cards will not be accepted. The car rental company is solely responsible for approving the provided credit card. Online prepayment does not exempt the renter from providing a valid international credit card during vehicle pick-up. The rental company will place a hold in the amount of the security deposit and, when applicable, any additional local fees not covered in the prepaid voucher on the card provided at the rental location.
You must present a printout of the Booking Confirmation Voucher at the rental location. This document officially confirms all agreed upon services, payment conditions, rates, discounts, as well as vehicle availability within the group selected.
