Palm Beach International Airport: your entry into Greater Miami
Palm Beach International is the main airport for those who wish to visit West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Palm Beach and surrounding areas. With more than 6 million annual passengers, PBI offers three runways, travelers services, a playroom, a spa, retail stores and many food and drink options.
Renting a car at PBI
There are many rental companies available to rent a car from at Palm Beach International, such as Hertz, Alamo, Enterprise and more. You can easily find the car rental companies’ kiosks on the airport’s main level.
Things to do do near Palm Beach International
PBI is near many touristic cities in Florida. West Palm Beach, for example, is located less than 5 miles from the airport. Downtown is where you’ll find colorful stores, nightclubs and restaurants. If you need a place to spend the day before that, though, we suggest you visit Rosemary Square, where you’ll be able to shop and dine, Norton Museum of Art, if you’re into sculptures and paintings, or the South Florida Science Center and Aquarium, a great place for those traveling with kids.
Road trips from West Palm Beach
The most famous day trip from West Palm Beach is definitely to Miami, just 71 miles south. Miami doesn’t need any introduction, but you may also like making a stop at Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale, both also very well known for their beaches and vibrant life.
If you can extend that trip a little further, we suggest you visit the Florida Keys. Key West, the last of the Keys, is located 166 miles south of Miami. The drive may be a little bit longer, but it’s well worth it.
For most car rental companies around the world, the minimum age requirement is 25. Drivers aged between 21 and 24 might be subject to additional local fees and may not be allowed to book vehicles under the Premium, Specialty, SUV, Minivan, Van, Convertible, Utility and Luxury Vehicle categories. Additional drivers must be at least 25 years old.
Each driver must present a full, valid and original national driver's license held for minimum of 2 years. If your license is not in a language used in your destination country, an International Driver's Permit to accompany your national driver's license is highly recommended.
Each driver must present a valid and original photo ID or passport.
The renter must present a personal credit card, valid in the country of pick-up with enough funds to put a hold for a security deposit. Third-party credit cards will not be accepted. The car rental company is solely responsible for approving the provided credit card. Online prepayment does not exempt the renter from providing a valid international credit card during vehicle pick-up. The rental company will place a hold in the amount of the security deposit and, when applicable, any additional local fees not covered in the prepaid voucher on the card provided at the rental location.
You must present a printout of the Booking Confirmation Voucher at the rental location. This document officially confirms all agreed upon services, payment conditions, rates, discounts, as well as vehicle availability within the group selected.
Car rental companies reserve the right to refuse service to underage or unlicensed drivers, those with poor credit history or individuals otherwise considered liabilities by the rental company.
Car rental insurances are usually called Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and cover against damages made to the car in case of an accident.
Third party insurances are usually called Additional Liability Insurance (ALI). Generally, they cover damage made to someone else’s property in case of an accident involving the rental car.
Also known as credit hold, a security deposit is necessary when you pick-up your rental car. The deposit is “blocked” on the driver’s credit card and “unblocked” after you return the car in the same conditions.
It is possible to add optional items to your reservation, such as GPS, child car seat, booster seat and more. Add them to your booking now so you don’t have to worry about it later!
If someone else is sharing the wheel with you, they need to be added to the car rental agreement as an additional driver and comply with the same car rental requirements, such as minimum age and documentation needed.
Check your reservation for the information about unlimited or limited mileage. Unlimited mileage means you can ride how much you want without paying any extras. Road trip saved!
