Detroit, Michigan: Automobiles and Motown
Detroit, Michigan is the birthplace of the American automobile and the Motown R&B sound. Even with its rich history as the Motor City and musical Mecca, Detroit has much more to offer and draws visitors who travel from every corner of the earth. The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is a world class international airport that has become a leading regional point of entry. Naturally, the majority of traffic to and from DTW airport in the Motor City is by car or bus, so car rental in Detroit is pretty much a requirement.
Navigating To and From DTW
The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is located 21 miles from Downtown Detroit to the east and 28 miles from Ann Arbor to the west. It is situated directly adjacent to two major freeways; I-94 running east to west and I-275 running north and south. From this location, visitors will have quick access to the city of Detroit and most of the popular metropolitan destinations, like the Henry Ford Museum and the Detroit Institute of Arts. The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is located in a rural suburb, so traffic in the area is limited to airport traffic. This gives visitors departing in their rental cars a relatively quiet environment in which to gain their bearings as they flow towards the freeway.
Getting Around the Airport
There are two terminals at DTW, McNamara, the largest of the two, is reserved exclusively for Delta Airlines and its affiliates. The two terminals and parking centers are connected by an airport-owned shuttle service that runs regularly between facilities. Car rental facilities are located off-site at DTW, but the dedicated transportation center adjacent to baggage claim offers shuttles, which make getting to the major rental agencies a snap.
In a city founded on the auto industry, cars are a way of life. Public transport is limited even in the city of Detroit, so car rental is the best and at times the only way to get around town as a visitor. Book your car rental today for your visit to Detroit.

The renter must present a personal credit card, valid in the country of pick-up with enough funds to put a hold for a security deposit. Third-party credit cards will not be accepted.
